These temples are collectively known as the Ashtavinayak temples. The word "Ashta" means eight, and "Vinayak" is one of the names of Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles and the god of wisdom, prosperity, and new beginnings in Hinduism. The journey to visit these eight temples is considered highly auspicious and is a significant religious journey for devotees of Lord Ganesha.
The Ashtavinayak Darshan is usually done in a circular route, covering all eight temples in a specific order, although some variations exist.
Here are the eight temples of the Ashtavinayak Darshan, each with its own unique history and significance:

Moreshwar (Morgaon)
Located in the town of Morgaon, near Pune, it is considered the first and one of the most important temples in the Ashtavinayak circuit. It is believed that Lord Ganesha manifested in the form of a peacock (Mora in Marathi), which is why the temple is dedicated to this form.

Siddhivinayak (Siddhatek)
Situated on the banks of the river Bhima, this temple is in the Ahmednagar district. Lord Ganesha here is said to grant Siddhis (spiritual powers) to his devotees. The idol is believed to be self-originated and is revered for fulfilling wishes.

Ballaleshwar (Pali)
This temple is located in the Raigad district. The idol of Lord Ganesha is known for the name Ballaleshwar, named after a devotee named Ballal. It is the only Ashtavinayak temple named after a devotee, and the temple is famous for its significance in granting boons to its devotees.

Varadvinayak (Mahad)
This temple is located in the Raigad district, and it is known for being the deity that grants 'Var' (boon). Lord Ganesha is said to have granted a boon to the devotee here, which led to the temple’s name. The temple's idol is made of black stone.

Chintamani (Theur)
Located in the Pune district, the Chintamani temple is dedicated to the form of Ganesha who is believed to grant peace of mind and remove anxiety. The temple has a rich history tied to the legendary "Chintamani" gem, which was offered to Lord Ganesha by a devotee.

Girijatmaj (Lenyadri)
This temple is situated in the Lenyadri hills near Junnar, Pune. The temple is unique as it is located in a cave on a hilltop, and devotees have to climb 300 steps to reach the temple. The idol of Ganesha is said to be self-manifested here.

Vighneshwar (Ozar)
Located in the Pune district, this temple is believed to be the place where Lord Ganesha removed all obstacles (Vighna) for the devotees. The idol of Ganesha here is associated with the power to remove obstacles in any endeavor.

Mahaganapati (Ranjangaon)
Situated in the Pune district, the Mahaganapati temple is known for the large idol of Lord Ganesha. It is believed to be one of the most powerful and influential temples of Ganesha in Maharashtra, and visiting it is said to bring success and protection.

Mumbai to Moreshwar Temple (Morgaon) overnight journey by Road (Approx. 249 Kms)
- Pickup Point: Borivali National Park at 11:30 PM
Day 1: 03rd January 2025
- Start Point- Moreshwar Temple (Morgaon) at 06:00 AM
- Schedule – Moreshwar Temple (Morgaon), Siddhivinayak Temple (Siddhatek) and Ballaleshwar Temple (Pali).
- Meal Plan - Morning Breakfast, Lunch, Evening Snacks/tea, Dinner
- Stay – Near Pali, a convenient stop since it’s the last temple on our route for the day
- Travelling – Total bus journey will be approx. 280 km
Day 2: 04th January 2025
- Start Point - Ballaleshwar Temple (Pali) at 06:00 AM
- Schedule - Varadvinayak Temple (Mahad), Chintamani Temple (Theur) and Girijatmaj Temple (Lenyadri),
- Meal Plan - Morning Breakfast, Lunch, Evening Snacks/tea, Dinner
- Stay - Near Ozar, providing a convenient start for the next day's route
- Travelling - Total bus journey will be approx. 240 km
Day 3: 05th January 2025
- Start Point - Vighneshwar Temple (Ozar) at 06:00 AM
- Schedule - Vighneshwar Temple (Ozar), Mahaganapati Temple (Ranjangaon), Moreshwar Temple (Morgaon) and start return journey towards Mumbai
- Meal Plan – Morning Breakfast, Lunch, Evening Snacks/tea, Dinner
- Travelling - Total bus journey will be approx. 375 km
