The famous Red Rice is likewise organic in the Kedarkantha area. You also see the lives in remote towns throughout the cold weather, which is a unique experience. This expedition holds the hearts of many trekkers in the country. According to local ideas, the Kedarkantha Peak holds a mythical significance. It is said that Kedarkantha was initially intended to be the place of Kedarnath. The tale has it that when Lord Shiva, disguised as a bull, sought refuge in Kedarkantha to conceal from the Pandavas, the town’s inhabitants disrupted his peace. Consequently, Lord Shiva relocated to his existing house in Kedarnath. The residents of Sankri claim that the spear of Lord Shiva, located atop the Kedarkantha Height, safeguards the people and provides food to the Himalayan Rivers
Nonetheless, Kedarkantha offers the right amount of snow and allows accessibility to a summit at an outstanding altitude of 12,500 feet! Standing on the top at sunup is a charming experience, with impressive heights surrounding you and a thrilling gold light that feels classic.
In December, January and February, expect daytime temperature levels to vary from 13 to 18 degrees Celsius. Nevertheless, once the sun sets, temperatures can drop as reduced as -7 levels Celsius. Bear in mind that as you rise to higher elevations, it will also become colder. The Kedarkantha base camp is known for chilly winds, so pack adequate cosy garments.ITINERARY
Itinerary of 6 Days / 5 Night’s
Day 1: 12th January 2025
Dehradun to Sankari by Road (Approx. 210 Kms)
- Pickup Point: Dehradun at 6:30 AM
- Altitude: 1,950 m/ 6,400 ft.
- Driving Range: Around 220 kilometres (approximately 10 hours)
- Mode Transportation: Tempo Traveller or Sharing Taxi
- Meal: Dinner
Journey begins with Dehradun. From Dehradun, we will drive to Sankri, which goes to a distance of 220 km from Dehradun. It may take around 8 – 9 hrs or even more to get to Sankri. Stay overnight at Sankri (Home stay or Tent Stay Sharing Basis)
Day 2: 13th January 2025
Trek From Sankari to Juda Ka Talab (Approx.4 Kms)
- Elevation: 6400 ft – 9100 ft
- Trek Dostance: 4 Kms
- Elevation Gain – 800m/2,700 ft
- Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 3: 14th January 2025
Juda Ka Talab To Lohasu (Kedarkantha Base camp) 3 kms
- Stay – Overnight stay at the campsite.
- Meal – Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
- Distance – 3 km
- Time Taken – approx. 3 hrs
- Altitude – 9,100 feet to 11,250 feet.
- Altitude Difference – 650m/2150 ft
- Trek Grade – Easy to Moderate
- Stay in tents on sharing basis.
Day 4: 15th January 2025
Lohasu - Kedarkantha Base Camp to Kedarkantha Peak Summit and return back to hargaon camp
- Stay – Overnight stay at the campsite.
- Meal – Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
- Distance – 7 km
- Time Taken – approx. 7 hrs
- Altitude – 11,250ft – 12,500ft – 8900ft
- Altitude Difference – 700m/2350 ft
- Trek Grade – Moderate
- Stay in tents on sharing basis.
Day 5: 16th January 2025
Trek from Hargaun to Sankari - 4.5 Kms & Sankari to Dehradun 210 Km
- Meal – Breakfast
- Driving Range: Around 220 kilometres (approximately 10 hours)
- Mode Transportation: Tempo Traveller or Sharing Taxi
Day 6: 17th January 2025
Trek from Hargaun to Sankari - 4.5 Kms & Sankari to Dehradun 210 Km.
A contingency day built into the expedition itinerary to accommodate unexpected
delays, bad weather, or other unforeseen circumstances. Buffer days can vary
depending on the expedition's specific needs and circumstances.
If the expedition proceeds as scheduled, you'll have the opportunity to explore
nearby attractions
Important Note - Day 6: Participants are responsible for their own: Accommodation,
Meals, Transportation or Any additional expenses incurred. These costs are not
included in the trek package

Travel from Mumbai to Delhi by train (approx. 16 hours, fare Rs.2500 to Rs.3000, 3A coach) and then take a bus from Delhi to Dehradun (approx. 6 hours, 240 km, Rs.600 to 700 depends on booking date and seats). Various bus options available, including sleeper/semi-sleeper private buses and government buses
